About the Application

The importance of statistics for planning, monitoring and evaluation is now very well recognised. Accurate and upto-date statistics are essential for obtaining objective picture of state economic and social condition. Statistics play a crucial role in supporting developmental policies and in measuring the impact of government interventions. The statistical system in Bihar is decentralized with the Directorate of Economics and Statistics as the key agency for collection, compilation and dissemination of statistics. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics functions under the administrative control of the Department of Planning and Development.

To strengthen the state statistical system envisaged in recommendation of National Statistical Commission, Bihar has made state strategic statistical plan in which 20 key macroeconomic indicators are to be focused as proposed in ISSP(SSS).

e-Statistics is a Web Portal with PWA support (a native mobile application) for 6 core statistical macroeconomic indicator) has been conceptualised, designed and developed under Phase I. It is an integrated framework for 20 core statistical macro indicator covering 6 indicator in Phase I and 14 indicator in Phase II. 20 CSMI web portal captures data from 8456 Village Panchayat, 534 Blocks, 38 District and 54 market centres of Bihar.

Feature and Functionalities:
The web portal with native mobile application software aims to cover the following:-

1. Developed and implemented using open source technology.
2. Collection of data at the collection centers (to be GPS verified) in real time through mobile application. This will ensure correctness of data at the very origin level by capturing Lat / Log using HTML geolocation API and calculate the actual distance from already capture Lat / Log of market place / other Geo points.
3. Processing of data and automatic calculation of relevant indices thus eliminating current practices of manual entry and calculation of various indexes.
4. Reporting of indexes to stakeholders.
5. Graphical Analysis of the core indicators for futuristic planning.

Aims & Objectives

The Directorate has to play a vital role in compiling macro parameters for monitoring of the State Economy as envisaged under the System of National Account propounded by the United Nation Statistical Commission under operational guidelines of the Central Statistical Office, Government of India. It has also to create data-base for this purpose as well as existing and emerging data requirement of the State Government and that of the Central Government in Bihar. The Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Bihar has the special significance being the Office of the Chief Registrar of Birth and Death for Bihar.
